Public and tribal library staff members will get 0.3 CEU credits for attending the morning session and 0.24 CEUs for attending the afternoon session.

• Morning Session (9:30 to noon) - Disability Awareness

• Afternoon Session (1:30 to 3:30) - Disability Resources

According to the 2015 American Community Survey conducted by the Census, one in six Oklahomans have a disability. These individuals and their families depend on libraries to be a provider of accurate and relevant information in a welcoming and nonjudgmental environment.

During the morning session, you will gain enhanced awareness and knowledge of disabilities. You will have increased confidence in working with individuals with a disability. You will get insight into interacting respectfully and communicating effectively with people with disabilities. You will be introduced to simple ways to make your library more accessible and welcoming.

During the afternoon session, we will provide information on resources in Oklahoma. The public will also be invited to join. We will share information on groups and agencies locally and statewide that provide support. We will provide tools and resources that will benefit both you and your patrons. You will receive packets of information that will help you and your patrons navigate the disability landscape.
